Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup enters 5th and 6th laps
19 juillet 2019
In the Croatian Automotodrom Grobnik the fifth and penultimate round of the Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup will take place. At the touring car race, Andres Einhorn took the lead with the Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup 1.8 LT V2 racing car. Now he has to defend it on one of the fastest and most demanding racetracks in Europe.
Four exciting and action-packed races have already been run at the Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup. Now the participants on the almost 4.2 kilometre long track in Grobnik, Croatia have to show how well they can handle the race cars which have been upgraded compared to last year. All cars are equipped with Toyos Proxes R888R Semi-Slick. Toyo Tires also supports the Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup as an official partner to promote touring car motorsport.
Grobnik has only been a station of the competition since last year. 18 corners lie on the 10.6 metre wide track and make it a fast and extremely demanding track. It remains exciting whether the drivers can fully exploit the track or, as in the fourth race on the Red Bull Ring in Styria, have to improvise due to the weather. The onset of rain made the track slippery and posed a special challenge for the drivers.
Under these conditions Andres Einhorn secured the lead and the pole position for Croatia. Austria's Patrick Tiefenbacher followed closely, using his slipstream in the fourth race to accelerate the lap times. Dennis Böker secured third place with a clever manoeuvre in the final lap.
The Chevrolet Cruze Eurocup is a challenging cup for newcomers in which lateral entrants from other racing classes also hold their own. The overall winner of the year can look forward to a free test drive in the TRC racing car as an incentive for his promotion. In order to give everyone the same chance, the cars are exchanged every weekend according to a rotating system.
